Made in Dade: 50 flavors only found in Miami

by Liana Lozada for USA TODAY TRAVEL
Miami’s cultural crock pot continues to cook up new and exciting culinary experiences while staying true to its multiethnic environment. The city’s mash up of Caribbean, Latin American and European flavors has been sprinkled with Southern comforts, Asian influences and Middle Eastern spices. Though area chefs are increasingly in the national spotlight thanks to James Beard nods, television appearances and top restaurant lists, it is Miami’s mom and pops places and artisans that keep the area’s savory soul in tact. Today, Miami-Dade County’s food map encompasses swamp-inspired bites, low-key family haunts, late-night Latin eats, tasty vegan treats and indulgent homestyle desserts — all found within an hour-ride radius.
